SUMMARY:Indigenous People & Early Bethlehem - A Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Indigenous people—both visitors and residents—have been part of Bethlehem since its founding. On this walking tour you will learn about the deep\, persistent\, and complex relationships that Lenape\, Mohicans\, and Haudenosaunee people formed with the Moravians at Bethlehem. We will visit to the last surviving home from Nain (a nearby Indigenous village)\, which was moved to Bethlehem in 1765. Please join us for a remarkable and enlightening story. This tour will be held on Saturday\, October 11 at 1:30 p.m.\, starting in the Old Chapel and will last approximately 90 minutes. Participants should expect to walk some steps\, up to God’s Acre and around the historic campus. Please register by emailing the church office.

SUMMARY:Wine & Cheese with Le Marquis de Lafayette
DESCRIPTION:Did you know the Marquis de Lafayette recuperated from wounds sustained at the Battle of Brandywine in the care of the Moravian community in Bethlehem? Enjoy this exclusive opportunity to hear the story of the battle and his time in Bethlehem as Ben Goldman interprets Lafayette in the Colonial Industrial Quarter\, 248 years after the battle.\n\nBen Goldman presents an extraordinarily authentic Marquis de Lafayette\, having studied Dramatic Literature and French at NYU. His knowledge of history and the details of Lafayette’s service during the American Revolution along with his deep\, personal relationship with General Washington led him to performances at the White House and Mount Vernon.\n\nYour evening includes light bites featuring a cheese course\, wine\, non-alcoholic beverages\, Goldman’s presentation including time for Q&A and photo opportunities.\n\nPlus! Meet author Anne Supsic whose historical fiction novel The Bookmark highlights a rumored romance between the wounded Lafayette and Moravian sister Liesl Boeckel.\n\nJoin the Marquis de Lafayette for an intimate dinner at the Sun Inn prior to the Wine & Cheese event!\n\nToast to his good health and enjoy dinner with a menu that nods to the Inn’s 18th century history. Enjoy one glass of wine or beer with your ticket (then cash bar) with time for personal conversation and photos in this historical location. Tickets are very limited for this exclusive event.\n\nDinner is $85. Plan to arrive at the Sun Inn promptly at 5:45 PM to enjoy the full experience.\n\nTo include dinner with your Wine & Cheese ticket\, use the discount code LAFAYETTE for a $25 discount on your dinner reservation.
